A 3rd generation Chinese American, Ken was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. He graduated from UC Berkeley in 1976 with a degree in biology. After graduating, he served as youth director for two years at First Chinese Baptist Church (Sacramento), his home church.
After a year as an M.Div. student at the American Baptist Seminary of the West (Berkeley), he felt led to transfer to Fuller Theological Seminary, graduating in 1981, and then again in 1990 with his D.Min. in Asian American church growth. Since May 2015 he has served as the host and co-producer of “Asian America: The Ken Fong Podcast” (www.aapodcast.com), which has attracted listeners throughout the U.S. and in over 100 countries.
Bradley Onishi, PhD, is Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Skidmore College. A TEDx speaker, he has written for the New York Times, Huffpost, Religion & Politics, The LA Review of Books, The Conversation US, Rewire.News, among other outlets.
He has appeared on NPR-affiliate programs and nationally ranked podcasts. His monograph, The Sacrality of the Secular, appeared from Columbia University Press in 2018, and has published in journals such as JAAR, Sophia, Religions, and The American Book Review. Brad was a pastor at a California megachurch in Yorba Linda (birthplace of Richard Nixon!) before attending Oxford University, L’institut catholique de Paris, and the University of California Santa Barbara.
Ken Kemp, B.A., M.Div., has been a pastor, financial advisor, fundraiser, author, speaker, blogger, amateur philosopher, armchair therapist, junior varsity theologian, novice techie, quasi-political-junkie and reader of books.
From his website: “We are living in a point/counterpoint culture. Some of my friends have tried to ‘go Switzerland’ and maintain some sort of neutrality between left and right, conservative and liberal. The BWM is pessimistic about trying to moderate the debate. He’s more inclined to show his leanings, believing that it’s important to speak out. The intent is not to toss fuel on the fire, but to be candid about his convictions. It’s the starting point for civil conversation.”
