Ken Kemp
Chris Greer, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, joins Ken for a conversation about redemption, recovery and living well. Ken and Chris's friendship began over a decade ago in a small town in California's Central Valley where Ken was interim pastor in a local church. About 5 years after Chris suffered a serious auto accident at age eighteen. Chris shared the harrowing story of an addiction to pain killers (OxyContin), alcohol and other drugs with Ken. It was a Sunday afternoon lunch that led to several years of therapy, recovery and rehab that Ken and Chris, in many ways, walked through together. Chris shares openly both the progress and the set-backs. With lots of support, starting with just a few community college credits, Chris went on to complete a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and then earned admittance to the Master of Social Work at the University of Southern California (USC). He completed the program, graduating and then completing the thousands of supervised hours, passing the exams to become a licensed therapist. Along the way, he met and married Jennifer. Every year, Chris calls Ken in October to report the anniversary of his sobriety - this year, number ten. Today, Chris has a full calendar in private practice helping others find that redemption, recovery, and living well. Show Notes: https://thebeachedwhitemale.com/chris_greer/

Years of schooling, training, and my own life experiences have shown me the importance of focusing on my emotional and mental well-being, as well as my physical, social, and spiritual well-being. When I make sure that all those parts are in balance, I can live a more grounded and connected life.
And I want that for you, too.
To fully address mental health and well-being, we have to consider the “whole you.” We have to examine all of those areas of your life, in your environment.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Certificate in Addiction Studies at William Jessup University. I then earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California.
I’ve spent the last few years working at a local non-profit providing varying levels of support for people struggling with Substance Use Disorder, varying mental health disorders, and those who have been involved in the criminal justice system.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and young son – enjoying the natural beauty that we have access to in Santa Cruz County.
One of my passions in life is getting to know people for who they truly are. And I especially enjoy helping people to know themselves in ways that weren’t possible before therapy.
The warm and inviting environment created in therapy allows my clients to explore the dark corners of their lives without the fear of being judged.
We’ll get to the root of the issue, develop healthier ways to navigate life, and help you lay a foundation for living the life that you want. We’ll collaborate to create lasting change.
I have experience providing support for individuals and couples who struggle with substance use, a wide range of mental health disorders, and also those who have been involved in the criminal justice system.
